Thanksgiving-November 27, 2025
What a great way to spend Thanksgiving. The VFW post 4600 was host to 65 sailor recruits from Great Lakes Naval Station. Shout out to VFW Post Commander Mike Kinnerk and his wife Petra, (as well as all the volunteers!) they did an amazing job organizing, preparing so much food for the sailors and entertainment them for nearly the entire day. I was impressed with the efficiency I witnessed. Thank you for allowing me to be part of this.
I was honored to serve as a greeter and I was able to set up a display of some WW2 artifacts for the sailors to check out. I even got to share some military history along the way. Nothing matches the comfort of being with fellow veterans on a holiday. I remember being overseas for the holidays when I served and I know very well the importance of events like this.

The War Department Military Museum will be displaying military artifacts from our inventory. We will have a tent set up at the airport so come on out and spend the day with us one or both days!

NO PETS allowed at event for safety reasons.
Event entry will only be possible with advance tickets.
All of our loyal food vendors will be joining us again this year.
Warbirds will be on display and flying!
General Aviation aircraft will be on display and flying.
Discounted airplane and helicopter rides will be available.
ATM on site for your convenience. Most vendors are cash only.

Cavalcade of Planes
Thank you to Cavalcade of Planes for inviting us out to share our collection with the community. Saturday was a washout with all the rain, but Sunday was a beautiful day to enjoy some aviation. We met some amazing veterans and had a great time! Our display got a lot of compliments from the public and hopefully we were able to teach some history.

We had a great time at the air show! Thanks to Dennis and his son Johnny, who drove out from the Milwaukee area to give me a hand setting up. Met a lot of friendly people and got many compliments on our displays.
